Vans Syndicate x 8Five2 – Sk8-Mid “S” & Old Skool “S” (Available Now!) #8FIVE2

sk8mid2

Here’s a release that snuck in at the last minute, and was first revealed at the “These Days” 10 Years of Vans Syndicate exhibition at the Known Gallery last month.  Hong Kong’s 8FIVE2 has teamed up with Vans Syndicate to release this amazing collection to commemorate their 15 year mark.  The overall aesthetic is straight out of a 1999 Polo ad, with rich navy, red, and yellow tones, something that 8FIVE2 founder Brian Siswojo is a big fan of, as well as a lot of us older Hip-Hop heads.  We’ve been hyped about these, and it’s nice to see them finally arrive to finish off this current Syndicate run, until they are back again.  Great job 8FIVE2!!!

Pick them up here on the 8FIVE2 webshop.

Vans x Milk Magazine – 12th Anniversary Sk8-Hi & Slip-On (Hong Kong Exclusive)

milk-magazine-x-vans-classic-12th-anniversary-collection-4

Words via Hypebeast:

“It’s no secret that Vans silhouettes like the Sk8-Hi and Classic Slip-On have long been the go-to sneakers for everyone from artists and musicians to skaters and globetrotters – while they don’t last forever, they’re infinitely affordable and look even better once they’ve been worn in and beaten up a bit. With that in mind, Milk Magazine has teamed up with the timeless SoCal label in honor of the publication’s 12-year anniversary. Opting for heavyweight 14oz cotton uppers, the kicks come in a denim blue hue – which bleeds down on to the midsole thanks to a unique distressing process employed by Vans here for the first time – with contrasting white accents throughout. While the Slip-On comes decked out with splatter details, the Sk8-Hi sees a graffiti-like drip effect applied to the iconic Jazz Stripe; both eschew foxing stripes for a streamlined touch. Limited to just 200 pairs, the celebratory release is due out this Friday, September 27 at a special Milk x Vans pop-up space in Hong Kong’s Causeway Bay before hitting additional Vans flagships across Hong Kong over the weekend.”

Vans x CLOT – “Tribesmen” Collection (Holiday 2012)

Hong Kong based CLOT has collaborated with Vans on a capsule collection of footwear for Holiday 2012, choosing to work on the Vans Era and Vans Slip-On, which are two of the most identifiable and iconic models.  Following in their Holiday 2012 “Tribesmen” theme, CLOT applied embroideries and knit motifs to their designs, combined with a washed canvas to give them a sort of worn, or vintage appeal.

The official launch of the CLOT x Vans Holiday 2012 “Tribesmen” Sneaker Collection takes place on December 14, 2012, at JUICE Hong Kong.

Vans Syndicate x 8FIVE2 – Seylynn “S” (Video)

Here’s the first official video of the Vans Syndicate x 8FIVE2 Seylynn “S”.  The limited edition Seylynn “S” comes in a black and imperial blue colorway and features 8FIVE2’s iconic graphic with five-petal Hong Kong orchid tree flower camouflage, which has been used on all past 8FIVE2 collabs.  The 8FIVE2 x Vans Syndicate Seylynn “S” will be available at the 8FIVE2SHOP located in Causeway Bay in Hong Kong on December 1 for $790 HKD (approximately $101 USD).

Vans Syndicate x 8FIVE2 (Hong Kong) – Zero Lo “S” (Coming in December 2012)

I have to give a big shout out to LV_1790 on our OTWS forums, for giving us the heads up on this awesome upcoming Vans Syndicate collaboration with Hong Kong’s OG skateshop 8FIVE2.  They chose to go with a Zero Lo “S” this time around, in an all black colorway, but with a few blue accents, primarily the laces.  They’ve also incorporated their signature floral print on the footbed of the shoe, and the ollie pad looks to be blue, underneath the black outer layer, so that when you skate in these, you’ll expose the blue color over time, but that’s just an assumption.  As more news becomes available, we’ll be sure to share it with y’all!

Vans x 8Five2 – Sk85ive2 Half Cab 20th Anniversary (Event Recap)

Photography and words via Hypebeast:

“In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Steve Caballero’s storied Half Cab shoe, Vans has been celebrating the occasion with an assortment of events and special releases throughout the year. Taking place at the recently launched Sk85ive2 indoor skatepark in Hong Kong, Vans celebrated the milestone with a special event this past weekend. Featuring the usual suspects – drinks, waffle soles and skateboarding, the event also showcased four new Half Cab iterations that will be steadily rolled out beginning this month through September 2012. The new Half Cab styles were initiated by “Cab” himself in which the iconic skateboarder tapped a few of his favorite artists to appropriate their own take on the signature shoe. While more information will be forthcoming on the specifics releases, a special Caballero-designed style was on display and originally unveiled via the Hypebeast Instagram here. The pair is mocked up in a buttery suede upper, set atop a pure white outsole and features custom designed Caballero art on the side panel and tongue tag.”

Vans x HKIT – Half Cab Pro “The Last Dragon” (Review!)

When news first broke about this release, we thought we were going to be assed out, but after digging a little deeper, I found out that HKIT had a Facebook page, and after reading a few comments on there, I saw that they were allowing orders through email.  I promptly typed up a request, and after a few Facebook comments, and multiple emails, I was able to place an order.  The downside was that these were only made up to a size 11, which I can still squeeze into, and thankfully these are Half Cab Pro’s, so if need be, I can swap out the removable sockliner!  The color blocking, and material choice is straight up dope!  There are lots of unique features on these, which makes for a great collab, such as the HKIT branding on the backside of the tongue.  Take note of the embossed Hong Kong inspired graphic on the heel, and you can’t forget the dragon scale material placed on the tongue, and rear panels of the shoe.  I also forgot to mention that the lace tips say HKIT on both pairs, one being a red round waxed lace, and the other a flat black waxed lace.  There is also a branded HKIT dust bag as well, for that finishing touch.  Enjoy the detailed pics, and if you want to place an order for these, then beware that they run about $120 shipped, but if you must have them, like I did, then shoot them an email or direct message over on their Facebook page.
