A short sleeve t-shirt and trucker hat round out the offering using a Vans x Metallica logo lock-up.

Metallica’s most recent album, Hardwired…To Self Destruct, was released on November 18, 2016 on Metallica’s own Blackened Recordings record label and debuted at No. 1 around the world, selling over 800,000 copies worldwide in its first week and garnering the band Grammy® nominations for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Album.

The opening event will be marked with special live performances from Future Islands, Digable Planets and Chicago-based breakout artist, Noname.

The two-day celebration kicks off with music and will include a photography retrospective highlighting photos shot at House of Vans by emerging photographers Jonathan Mehring, Bryan Derballa, Ashley Osborn, Ryan Kobane and Laura June Kirsch. As the only existing indoor skatepark in the Chicago metropolitan area, local skaters will experience a custom-built course, featuring the reimagination of iconic West Coast skate spots, Lockwood and China Banks, plus additional obstacles for every skill level. The backdrop to the Lockwood-inspired obstacle features an ivy-covered wall that pays homage to Wrigley Field, using ‘66, Vans’ founding year as the outfield distance marker. Additionally, guests can enjoy a beautifully repurposed Goose Island brewpub bar that was originally located steps away from Wrigley Field. Located at 113 N Elizabeth St., House of Vans Chicago will always be free and open to the public.

“Chicago has a rich and eclectic history across action sports, art, music and street culture akin to Vans’ own roots and ‘Off The Wall’ ethos,” said Doug Palladini, Vans’ Global Brand President. “It’s an honor to bring House of Vans to life here in Chicago so we can grow our Vans family and give back to the creative communities that make this city so vibrant.”

Vans x Sick Of It All! – Sk8-Hi (1.3.17)

SickOfItAllSk8-Hi-1

By the time you read this, these will have already sold out.  Vans has teamed up with hardcore band Sick Of It All!, to pay tribute to their 30 years of existence.  The band was formed in 1986, so SOIA decided to create a very limited run of only 86 pairs of the Sk8-Hi that you see here.  Featuring an all-over print of their logo, and custom embroidered band name on the heel panel.  The site link is still up, so perhaps a restock might be in the works, but they will go fast again if they reappear.  Good luck, and enjoy more pics after the jump.

Vans Vault x DQM x Blue Note Records (Spring/Summer 2015)

14_bluenote_1200

Words via DQM:

“DQM has collaborated with Vans to produce a very special project with the iconic Blue Note Records. Releasing this Spring and Summer, the project includes two separate, consecutive footwear releases accompanied by a film featuring Don Was, the renowned musician/ producer President of Blue Note Records, and the legendary skateboarder and jazz-inspired contemporary musician Ray Barbee.

Founded in New York in 1939 by Alfred Lion and Max Margulis, Blue Note Records has just celebrated 75 years recording the world’s greatest jazz. Many Blue Note albums, especially from the 1950’s and early 1960’s, are considered to the be the finest jazz recordings of all time, such that the record label name itself is now synonymous with the seminal American music form.

The Blue Note Records project produced by DQM and Vans is inspired by the rhythm and extemporization that exists similarly within music, especially jazz, and skateboarding. Equally characterized by free-form thinking, style and improvisation, the art forms of music and skateboarding share a special connection. Both start with a simple stroke of the guitar, a push on a skateboard, and from there, its flow.

The project includes consecutive Vans footwear releases produced exclusively for DQM; an OG Era LX and an OG Sk8-Hi LX style in two colorways, ‘The Colors’, releasing in store on May 8th, and online on May 11th, and ‘The Blues’, releasing later in June. The shoes are constructed in 6oz canvas yardage printed with a collage featuring cover art from Blue Note’s epic catalog; each pair is unique.

Produced in a limited edition, the Blue Note Records footwear collection will be available in men’s and women’s sizes exclusively in store at The Vans DQM General in SoHo, New York and online at dqmnewyork.com”.
