Vault by Vans has gotten together with NEIGHBORHOOD on this amazing BMX-inspired collaboration. Featuring one of Vans’ iconic logos, the “Thumbs Up”, this pack pays homage to Vans’ heritage in the action sport of BMX. The pack comes in two colorways, red and black, straying from NBHD’s usual black and white theme, with the intention of making this project all about Vans, and not them. They wanted to evoke a nostalgic feeling in the design, so they went with an aesthetic from the formative years at Vans, complete with checkerboards on the vulcanized scene or “side-wall”, as well as on the toe of two of the Authentics. NBHD didn’t stop there. There is a complete apparel line that is releasing alongside the shoes, including some long-sleeve tees, button-ups, shorts, and a bucket hat. This whole pack is dope, and unfortunately it’s going to be an Asia-exclusive.
Hypebeast sat down with NEIGHBORHOOD’s Creative Director Shinsuke Takizawa, to learn more about the design elements that went into the collab, and uncover the origin of the BMX inspiration. Read the article HERE.
BMX brand Cult has teamed up with Vans for the 3rd time, to create this dope Old Skool Pro. If you’re a fan of Cult, or just looking for a classic Vans shoe with a little bit of orange flair, then these might be the right pair for you. You can’t go wrong for $54 either! “Vans teams up with Leader Bikes for the second time across a number of reflective goods for Spring/Summer 2016. While T-shirts, caps and a backpack are included in the offerings, the most eye-catching products in the lineup include three sneakers: the Era, Old Skool and Slip-On.
Each sneaker features Ventile canvas construction for riding in all-weather conditions, alongside reflective material for night riding. Of course they’re fit for day use as well thanks to their simple monochromatic colorways.
Look for the collection to release on May 13 in all Brotures shops, Vans shops, and ABC Marts in Japan and Korea. Those of us in the U.S. will be limited to purchasing the collection only at Brotures Bike Shop in San Diego.”
For the third time, The Shadow Conspiracy and Vans have teamed up to bring you another rad pack of shoes. The “Shadow Penumbra” Pack marks the 10th Anniversary of Shadow Conspiracy’s “Shadow Penumbra” seat line, choosing to go with the Era Pro, Chukka Low, and Chukka Mid, drawing inspiration from the brand’s BMX seat designs. The Era and Chukka Low see all-over prints, including their “Human Nature” and a woodland-inspired graphic, while the Chukka Mid sees a mix of high quality leather and wax canvas in a soft black that is made for durability. Each pair features all of the Pro additions, like a Duracap toe bumper reinforcement, and the newly redesigned Ultracush footbed insert, which is much more softer than the previous version. These are now available on the Vans webstore, so support UTP and pick up a pair by clicking on the pic above, or after the jump!
Vans has teamed up with Odyssey BMX, who hosts the Texas Toast Jam every year in Austin, Texas, to create another dope Vans Authentic sneaker for this event. This year’s design takes inspiration from their website theme, and features a color-matched blue canvas, with a couple different prints for the toe and the heel. The toe features a quilted looking pattern made up of pieces of toast, and little logos of the state of Texas, while the heel displays the Texas Toast Jam logo. These will be sold at the event, as well as online, beginning next weekend October 17th-19th.
“Vans teams up with legendary cycling company Haro Bikes to produce a limited capsule. Though Vans is widely known for its skate-heavy heritage, the brand has also historically supported skating’s two-wheeled foils. Given Haro Bikes’ innovation – starting from one of the first mass-produced freestyle frames: The Haro Original Freestyler – this collaboration riffs on both brands’ extensive history of design and pioneering. As such, blue and green vintage-inspired racing stripes and checkerboards are the running motif throughout the collection, which includes: the Sk8-Hi, the Era (both pictured here), a range of T-shirts, and snap-closure hats. Enjoy a look the Haro x Vans collection, which releases July 15 at worldwide retailers.”
“It looks like Vans and Haro have teamed up to do some limited edition Freestyler shoes. Pat Casey posted these shots of the shoes up on Instagram giving you a look at two versions, an old school high top with the classic Vans checkered pattern and the old Freestyler logo, and then some classic lows with the same checkered pattern. No word on the release, but I’d imagine it won’t be long before you will be able to get yourself a pair or two.” OTWS members have also found a few press photos of the Era and Sk8-Hi, which can be seen after the jump!
Odyssey and Vans teamed up to create 100custom limited edition pairs of “Authentics” for this year’s Texas Toast Jam. These “Toast” Vans were only available during the event, which successfully went down on October 13-14.
