Erwin’s Current Vans Room

Erwin is the originator of the Vans sneaker room.  When he first joined our forum and shared photos of what he had safely locked inside of his house, we were stunned.  It’s something that takes a long time to build, and many more have replicated what he has done, and in their own tasteful way, but I just had to pay homage to our friend.  Erwin has been thinning the herd, selling off some less favored pairs, but he plans to keep most of the gems.  As you can tell, he has a thing for the Sk8-Hi.  When we were all buying Chukkas and Half Cabs, Erwin was picking up all of the rarest and coolest Sk8-Hi’s.  What blows my mind is that he managed to do this all while residing in the Netherlands.  That’s some serious dedication!  Thanks for being a part of our core community, and helping educate the new Vans collectors.  Salute!

Vans California x Size? – “Clay” Old Skool CA (10.2.15)

Words via Hypebeast:

“Vans has partnered up with British retailer size? to give a new spin on the the classic Old Skool CA sneaker. Taking cues from nature, size? incorporated the natural formation of clay and stone to conjure up a muted gray and tan color palette. Finishing off with a smooth suede texture, the sneaker is given a hint of sophistication without losing its signature laid-back feel. The pack is slated to be released October 2 on the size? website and in store.”

Vans California – Sk8-Mid Moc (Holiday 2015)

For the Holiday 2015 season, Vans brings to us this premium Sk8-Mid in a fresh new moccasin theme.  Vans went for the smoother deconstructed look, using minimal pieces of material for the uppers, replacing panels with stitches, that show off the Sk8-Mid’s familiar look.  Vans opted for a solid leather ankle wrap instead of the more commonly used fringe style that we’re used to seeing on most moc styles which was the right call in my opinion.  Although the information that is out now doesn’t say these are California’s, it sure does look like they are, judging by the heel tabs, materials, and overall premium look.  What are your thoughts on these?  They should be out soon.  Keep your eyes peeled.

Vans California – Sk8-Mid CA “Napa Leather” White (Spring 2014)

Vans California consistently drops the cleanest pairs of Vans, and case in point are these Sk8-Mid CA’s, constructed in a premium white napa leather, with a brown suede heel panel which adds a nice contrast to the otherwise pure white shoe.  There’s also brown suede on the lining, as well as on the tongue logo.  They finish off these nicely with a set of round waxed laces, while sitting on top of a smoothed out vulcanized sole.  These are not a Size? UK exclusive, as others may have mentioned, and should be available at all Vans CA dealers, and are even online now at Barney’s New York.

Vans California – Floral Camo Pack (Spring 2014)

The Vans California group has once again created a nice release for us here, with this new take on a seemingly tired trend…floral prints!  Brands have even gone so far as to call these prints “camo”, while actually just being good ol’ fashioned floral prints.  What makes these different, are that the prints are hand-drawn, instead of your typical repeating layers of individual graphics.  It’s refreshing to say the least.  The Old Skool CA features a combination of suede and printed canvas, while the Authentic CA receives an all-over wrapping of the printed canvas.  Both feature white round laces, and pure white vulcanized soles.  Check for these at your local CA dealer!

Vans California – Overwashed Pack (2014)

Here’s something you don’t see every day.  Well…I mean in a brand new shoe.  The Overwashed pack from the Vans California line, gives the appearance of an extremely broken in pair of Vans, but without the funk and worn out sole.  Here’s what Vans has to say about it: “Don’t we all want our Vans to look as if Tony Alva had worn them since the ’70s? With this Sk8-Hi Reissue CA we experimented with speeding up the process of disintegration that makes a pair of Vans truly one’s own. Newly assembled 10 oz. canvas Authentic and Slip-On silhouettes have undergone enzyme wash, stonewash, dip-dye, and oil treatments to please those who favor their favorites beat-up and used. The iconic look of the Vans Sk8-Hi in bled out blacks and blues make this shoe a true ambassador of our brand heritage. Deploying every trick in the book, the resulting over-washed appearance flaunts just the right amount of mimicked abuse.”  A few colorways are available now on the Vans webstore by clicking on the pic above!  See the rest of the models after the jump.
