Vans Japan x Billy’s – Kung Fu Authentic Pack (Japan Only!)

https-_hypebeast.com_image_2019_06_billys-vans-authentic-kung-fu-01

Words via Hypebeast:

“Japanese sneaker retailer BILLY’s has unveiled a special collaboration with Vans – the BILLY’s x Vans Authentic “Kung-fu” Pack.

Taking on a mold that borrows some design specifications from Vans’ Slip-on silhouette, the sneaker is outfitted in the shape of a traditional Chinese kung-fu jacket. Three frog buttons appear at the top in place of laces next to elastic collars. To complete the sneaker design, Japanese Katakana is placed at the rear quarter of the midsole as a cheeky nod to the Kiai shouts employed in martial arts.”

The BILLY’s x Vans Authentic “Kung Fu” will be available at BILLY’S physical store in Nagoya on June 29 in colorways “Black/White” and “Navy/Gum” for approximately $74 USD.

Vans Japan x N.HOOLYWOOD – Chukka (Japan Only!)

https-_hypebeast.com_image_2019_05_n-hoolywood-vans-chukka-boot-5

Words via Hypebeast:

“After teaming up on a clothing capsule for spring/summer 2019, N.HOOLYWOOD and Vans get together again for a footwear collaboration. Having partnered up since 2015, the duo chose to revamp an understated silhouette for this release, as opposed to the more popular Vans models.

The Chukka Boot sees a sleek upgrade, replacing its usual canvas upper with smooth suede overlays and just two lace holes instead of the usual four.  The shoe also receives a custom foxing tape along the sole with N.HOOLYWOOD branding in all black, helping to maintain its overall sleek form. Meanwhile, a hidden rubber part has been included in the shoe’s tongue, allowing it to also function as a slip-on. Complete with co-branded tags along the lateral, this collaborative boot is available now at N.HOOLYWOOD’s web shop and other retailers for 17,280 yen (approximately $155 USD).”

Vans Japan x JOJO’s Bizarre Adventure – Collection (Japan Only!)

jojo-bizarre-adventure-vans-era-slip-on-4

Words via Hypebeast:

“Vans is teaming with the anime legends JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure on a Golden Wind-inspired capsule collection, celebrating characters Giorno Giovanna and Bruno Bucciarati.

Taking on the Vans Era Pro and laceless Slip-On, the pairs see a complete rework both visually and physically. The Era gets wrapped in bright fuchsia velvet and sits atop a clean white sole unit featuring the Jojo logo. Embroidered golden wings hit the heel cup, anime-inspired eyelet plugs are used for decoration, and a love heart is cut out and edged in gold on the tongue.

The Slip-On is understated in comparison, seeing a clean black-on-white upper with metallic gold trimming. Featuring a standout vamp zip compartment which reveals quotes from the characters, the pair again features the lateral midsole tab and opt for a white sole unit.

Both pairs feature anime-sketched insoles depicting either Giorno Giovanna or Bruno Bucciarati depending on the pair, and come in a box inspired by JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure‘s Japanese roots and Italian setting.”

Head to retailers such as Bandai Fashion Collection to buy the collaborative pairs, priced at ¥9,720 JPY (approx. $88 USD).

Vans Japan x N.Hoolywood – Capsule Collection Apparel (Spring/Summer 2019)

https _hypebeast.com_image_2019_03_n-hoolywood-vans-spring-summer-2019-capsule-collection-2

Words via Hypebeast:

“N.HOOLYWOOD, headed by the Japanese designer Daisuke Obana, has tapped Vans for a Spring/Summer 2019 capsule collection which was first hinted at on its SS19 runway.

Comprised of a coach jacket and a pair of logo T-shirts, the collection sees a number of plays on the traditional Vans logo and iconography. Whited-out “OFF THE WALL” skateboards and a number of Americana-influenced Vans badges make up the collections logo-heavy look. Being a three-piece capsule collection, N.HOOLYWOOD presents a strong addition to any outfit with its standout T-shirts and contrastingly clean coach jacket, the latter being a piece that nods to Vans’ California-skate heritage.

The capsule comes after N.HOOLYWOOD presented its avantgarde SS19 runway show, where a pair of triple-black suede Vans chukkas were spotted on the catwalk.

T-shirt’s are priced at JPY 8,000 (approx. $70 USD) and the coach jacket is JPY 14,800 (approx. $130 USD), and will be available at all N.HOOLYWOOD stores and online from March 16. Sneakers are expected to release on May 4, but no news has been announced which pair will be dropping just yet.”

Vans Japan – Japan Fabrics Collection (Japan Exclusive!)

https _hypebeast.com_image_2019_03_vans-japan-fabrics-collection-pack-2019-release-2

Words via Hypebeast:

“First seen about a year ago, the Eastern branch of Vans has been quietly rolling out new editions of the “Japan Fabrics Collection” every few months or so, with a new sneaker here, one unique style there. To kick off the 2019 releases, Vans Japan serves up a complete trio of bespoke shoes, all made to exacting standards in Japan.

At the core of the “Japan Fabrics Collection” is a desire to highlight traditional Japanese craftsmanship, repurposing heritage designs for the uppers of classic Vans models. This drop sees three of Vans’ most-beloved sneakers hosting the designs, informed by classic textile manufacturing and artworks alike.

Vans’ Old Skool is tweaked with an “Ichimatsu” pattern, so-named for an Edo-era pattern that was used to create kimono and accessories. Here, the technique is rendered as a checkerboard-style pattern, and printed upon lightweight cotton tissue. Meanwhile, the Era sports a Spider Chrysanthemum-inspired jacquard print (“Rangiku”), with indigo and red tones mingling upon a slubby cotton upper. Finally, the humble Slip-On gets graphic with a jacquard goldfish (“Kingyo”) pattern — the elegant fish flows across a sturdy cotton fabric known as “shantung,” most commonly used for curtains in current-day Japan.

The latest “Japan Fabrics Collection” pack is available exclusively at Japanese retailers like ABC-MART.”

Vans Japan x Mastermind – Sk8-Hi (12.14.18)

https _hypebeast.com_image_2018_12_mastermind-world-vans-sk8-hi-01

Words via Hypebeast:

“mastermind JAPAN teams up with Vans for a small capsule release. In the capsule, we see a special edition of the Sk8-Hi model, and a long-sleeve tee.

Following mastermind JAPAN’s customary design language, the Sk8-Hi is clad in a black-and-white colorway, with its signature skull-and-crossbones graphic throughout the uppers. Subtle details like textured-black foxing, leather lining, and a rear heel zipper set this pair of Sk8-Hi apart from the rest.

The long-sleeve shirt follows a similar approach in design as co-branded text appears on the chest of the shirt, followed by a Vans checkerboard graphic and mastermind JAPAN skull printed on both of the sleeves.

Those interested, and are based in Japan, can find these at selected Vans Japan stockists on December 14.”

Vans Japan x Mooneyes – 2018 Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show Authentic & Old Skool (2018)

https _hypebeast.com_image_2018_11_vans-mooneyes-yokohama-capsule-collection-2

Vans Japan has teamed up with Mooneyes Japan to release another dope set of Vans, that were sold at this past weekend’s Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show.  The Old Skool is the more elaborate pair, featuring similar artwork to last year’s Slip-On and Half Cab.  Tons of yellow tones to go around, and lots of Moon branding throughout.  The Authentic is a throwback retro, to their original design created back in the day when pairs were made here in the good ‘ol U.S. of A, featuring an all white canvas, with black Mooneyes prints all over it.  We saw a version of this shoe, in Era form, released as part of the Vault By Vans collection, which are also a nice variation to try and get your hands on.  Each pair comes with a custom box, and although the YHRCS show just passed in Japan, the Mooneyes Christmas show will be happening this coming Saturday, here in Irwindale, CA on the 8th, and maybe a few left over pairs will secretly show up, just as last year’s pairs did.  There’s only one way to find out!
