Vans LXVI – Graph “Dissected” (Hypebeast series)

Hypebeast kicks off its newest series dubbed DISSECTED, which will not only highlight footwear but some of your favorite products, in their pre-assembled state.  It’s no secret that shows like How It’s Made are becoming increasingly popular these days.  Heck, when I was a kid, I couldn’t wait for Mr. Rogers to go visit the neighborhood factory, to see how things were built!  I think it’s a guy thing.  Well, for their inaugural story, they chose Vans’ latest release, the Graph, from its brand new LXVI line.  Touting tons of new technology, I think it was a perfect choice.  So head on over to Hypebeast, and check out their write-up and check out the pics as well.

Vans LXVI – Inscribe – Black / Orange (Video Review by @samcolt12)

A lot of people are on the fence with the new LXVI series from Vans.  This is common whenever a new brand or sub-label emerges into the marketplace.  Vans is no stranger to the action-sports market that LXVI is aiming towards, but their approach is all new.  Partnering up with Foot Locker is an interesting strategy.  Trying to get the attention of a new consumer group is tough, but this is already a great start.  OTWS’ OG member, and resident video reviewer SamColt12 had recently won a raffle that Vans was holding for the LXVI series, and he was given a free pair of Inscribe’s.  He’s produced a short video review on the shoe, and has given some insight and opinions on the shoe, and the LXVI brand as a whole.  Check it out, and if you’re interested in purchasing these, then support OTWS and buy them through our links after the jump, by clicking on the pictures!

LXVI – Any Contest Winners? (Collection Now Available for Preview!)

Today’s the day that we finally get to see what all this LXVI stuff is about!  They recently held a contest that involved a few free giveaways, but I sadly admit that I didn’t win anything!  Did any of you?  We’ve been patiently waiting to see the new shoe line from Vans, and I’m liking what I see so far.  It’s not your average classic, but perhaps there’s room in the action sports market for some technical offerings from Vans.  Is it a coincidence that these fall on the week before the Summer X-Games of 2012?  Hmm…

Head on over to LXVI.VANS.COM to check out the entire collection, and to find out where to purchase.

Vans President Kevin Bailey On New LXVI Line, and Growth Strategy

I’ve just read this interesting article over on Transworld Business, discussing Vans’ upcoming growth strategy to enter into the “Every-Day Action Sports Enthusiast” market with the LXVI line, dominated currently by Nike SB and Adidas Skateboarding.  This particular consumer currently buys shoes that we’re all familiar with, such as the P. Rod Pro Model, Eric Koston Pro Model, Omar Salazar Pro Model, Busenitz, and so on.  It’s an interesting move to say the least.  It’s definitely not in our expertise to say what sells, because we’re all hype driven, or at least sub-brand driven with our Syndicates, Vaults, and collabs, so perhaps I should just leave it at that.  What are your opinions on the LXVI (sixty-six) line?  Check out the article over on Transworld Business, and learn more about why Vans decided to branch off into this category, during a time when I feel they are on top, and just getting better.

I also invite you to join in a great conversation we’re currently having on this topic, on our forums here.  Sign up!

LXVI – The Future (Available 6.28.12)

Words via Hypebeast:

“Since its inception in 1966, Vans has become one of the foremost players within the world of action sports apparel and footwear. Having seen many successes with the roll out of brand extensions such as Vans OTW and the Vans California Collection, as well as higher tiers such as Vans Vault and Vans Syndicate, the iconic brand introduces its latest collection, Vans LXVI (pronounced “Vans 66″). Decidedly forward-thinking in its approach, the Vans LXVI line aims to bring an added focus towards action sports lifestyle to a demographic that perhaps is untapped thus far in regards to its brand’s reach. Setting its sights on building a bridge to younger consumers who would not be considered “core” skateboarders or actions sports participants per se, the initial introduction of six new construction technologies makes comfort and wearability of paramount importance. While specific information is still forthcoming, the new collection will roll out an initial five innovative footwear designs: Graph, Secant, Inscribe, Variable and Ortho. Stay tuned for more information on the comprehensive collection and direction via the new Vans LXVI website, with an expected roll out beginning June 28, 2012.”
