This season, Vans delivers the latest update to its newest Skate silhouette, The Lizzie, supported by a head-to-toe all-gender apparel offering created in collaboration with Vans team rider and Olympic skateboarder Lizzie Armanto.

As a trailblazer in skateboarding, Lizzie’s first-ever signature skateboarding shoe by Vans was designed to provide something else entirely for skateboarders whose needs are not being met. The silhouette also represents Vans’ first signature skate shoe designed by a woman in 20 years. Now in its second season, The Lizzie is offered up in a new dirt earth tone, as well as a wide range of sizes that includes kids’, and is supported by Lizzie’s new head-to-toe apparel collection that brings together several staple pieces, providing a completely fresh take for a new generation of skateboarders.

“I believe skateboarding is for everyone,” Lizzie said, “which is why I’m excited to share the ‘Little Lizzie’, along with an all-new inclusive clothing collection.”

The Lizzie features hard-working design elements that are meant to cater to a broader range of skateboarders. The new vulcanized construction features a higher outsole cup and rounded edges for a stable, broken-in feel. The universal fit features the perfect amount of EcoCush™ cushioning, increasing boardfeel for a wider range of skaters while the 3D embossed DURACAP™ toe adds durability in high-wear areas. An all-new micro-waffle tread and Sick-Stick™ rubber offers maximum grip.

This season, Lizzie’s rose graphic design inspiration— debossed on The Lizzie heel counter and appearing throughout the collection— is a nod to the “thank you, have a nice day” reusable bodega bags that come with a friendly reminder to reuse and recycle.

Her signature shoe also received the Vans VR3 designation, meaning it follows strict footwear materials guidelines for all major components. Under the VR3 designation, The Lizzie will always be made in part with organic cotton, natural rubber, and biobased foam. The Lizzie also utilizes suede sourced from Leather Working Group (LWG) tanneries that have been rated gold or silver for environmental responsibility.

The apparel and accessories assortment has been designed in close partnership with Lizzie to create an all-gender offering that mixes her personal style with functional skate details. Her collection is a combination of everyday pieces like the Armanto overalls and tote, including a hand drawn rose graphic that appears across the line. The Armanto overalls feature a relaxed fit made from canvas fabric, with novelty strap detail, a front patch pocket, back metal hardware, logo embroideries and felt patch details. The Armanto long sleeve knit is the perfect everyday piece with timeless rib knit fabric.

A true embodiment of Vans’ DNA, Lizzie Armanto is an icon of originality and positivity. With her down-to-earth, fashion-forward, barrier-breaking approach, it’s no wonder Lizzie has become a role model to skateboarders around the world. Moving to Santa Monica at age 14, Lizzie quickly became a fixture at local skate park The Cove. While she spent every day refining her skateboarding skills, she never imagined it as a career for herself. It is perhaps this humble attitude along with her unrelenting drive that has paved the way for the iconic milestones she’s achieved today. From being the first female to complete Tony Hawk’s 360 Loop, to gracing the covers of TransWorld Skateboarding and Thrasher, and recently competing on the world stage at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Lizzie is setting the tone for a revolution the skateboarding world’s been waiting for.

Vans’ The Lizzie and the Lizzie Armanto collection are available now at Vans Skateboarding retailers and at Vans.com/TheLizzie.

Vans x Supreme x Nate Lowman – Skate Grosso Mid (7.7.22)

7ACSC3PQcvQ

This Summer, Supreme will release a new version of the Vans® Skate Grosso Mid featuring original artwork by Nate Lowman.  The shoe features a premium suede and canvas upper with printed graphics, leather lining and insole, vulcanized waffle outsole and custom heel label.  Made exclusively for Supreme, the Skate Grosso Mid will be offered in three color ways.

Available July 7th.

Available in Japan July 9th.

EDIT as of 7/6/22:  It appears that Supreme has removed this announcement from their news page. No explanation on any of their media outlets, but we can only assume the release has been cancelled, in light of all of the recent gun violence in the U.S., with the most recent tragedy taking place in Highland Park, IL. We could only imagine how this would look from a P.R. perspective, and we think it’s the right move, albeit the design is based off of Nate Lowman’s iconic design for the Supreme Shibuya store opening box logo tee from 2012, nearly 10 years ago.

Vans Skate x Elijah Berle – Skate Half Cab “30th Anniversary” (June 2022)

thumbnail_image001

DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission.

Vans Skateboarding is proud to partner with team rider Elijah Berle on a signature style of the Skate Half Cab™ in honor of the silhouette’s 30-year anniversary, and a supporting head-to-toe collection. Influenced by Elijah’s passion for classic tattoo art, motorcycle culture, retro surf, and mid-century fashion, the collection is elevated with custom embroidery and artwork, and nods to Elijah’s iconic style and the staying power of the most influential skateboarding shoe in history.

Known within the skate community for his all-terrain talent and precise control, Elijah’s natural ability on a skateboard combined with his relentless work ethic has earned him a place in skateboarding’s upper echelon, all while remaining true to his roots and paying homage to those who have come before him. It’s only fitting that Vans gave Elijah the reins this season to put his spin on the Skate Half Cab with a unique khaki/black colorway as a nod to the future generation of skateboarding.

Born out of necessity in 1992, skaters created the original Half Cab by cutting down high tops into customized skate shoes. With nothing but scissors and duct tape, they unknowingly constructed the world’s greatest skate shoe. Three decades later, the Half Cab is still one of the most trusted, recognizable shoes in skateboarding. The Skate Half Cab colorway by Elijah Berle boasts a barbed wire design across the suede heel counter, original Half Cab logo patches on the upper and tongue, and Elijah’s name printed across the footbed. DURACAP™ reinforced materials and deeper tread depth extend the life of the shoe, and a PopCush™ energy-return footbed ensures legs stay fresh. The collection also features two additional Vans Skate Classics: the Elijah Berle Skate Old Skool in black/black with white embroidered barbed wire across the Sidestripe and flames on the toe vamp; and the Skate Sk8-Hi Decon in black/black with an assortment of removable patches.

Elijah’s design inspiration carries over to an apparel collection that infuses his Southern California style into a few key pieces, including the Elijah Berle carpenter pant in black with white flame detailing, a long sleeve T-shirt in black with barbed wire down the sleeve and flamed detailing across the front chest, a woven short sleeve shirt in black with flame detailing on the collar and custom Vans patch on the chest, and a color-blocked hat with embroidery art tying back to the collection.

Part of the Vans Skateboarding team since 2010, Elijah has continually progressed the sport with his bold style both on and off the board. With numerous accolades to his name, Elijah’s influential style has earned him Tampa Am Winner 2010 and Skateboard Mag’s Years Best Am 2012, as well as three-time Thrasher King of the Road Alumni. He most recently received top billing in Vans’ latest skateboard film, “Alright OK”. With his latest collection and signature Skate Half Cab, Elijah continues to cement his place in skateboarding history.

The Vans Skate Half Cab by Elijah Berle Collection is available now at Vans Skateboarding retailers and at vans.com/skateboarding.

Vans Skate x Uprise – “Chicago Pack” Skate Half Cab ’92 (4.8.22)

DSC05770

As Vans Skateboarding celebrates the 30th anniversary of Steve Caballero’s Half Cab over the course of 2022, several skate shops and brands have been tapped to reimagine the iconic model. One of these outlets is the Chicago-based Uprise Skateshop. Widely regarded as the godfathers of Chicago skateboarding, the Uprise Skateshop crew — who, themselves, are celebrating their 25th anniversary in 2022 — have brought Windy City style to two iterations of the Skate Half Cab ‘92.

Uprise Skateshop’s duo of takes on the Skate Half Cab ‘92 are Chicago through and through, offering black and red-based color schemes that nod to the Windy City’s classic Chicago Colorways. Both pairs are constructed of traditional canvas and shorthair suede, with contrast stitching adding an extra touch of detail and original Half Cab branding placed on the quarter panel and tongue. Uprise’s familiar text logo can be seen on both the inside of the tongue tag and the insoles, where it’s displayed in repeating fashion alongside a Vans wordmark.

From a performance standpoint, the Vans Skateboarding x Uprise Skateshop Skate Half Cab ‘92 uses proprietary POPCUSH sockliners for superior cushioning and impact protection plus a new SICKSTICK gum rubber compound on the outsole for enhanced grip and durability. Tongues are secured with elastic straps for enhanced lockdown, while a tougher toe knurl and internal heel shank ensure that the shoes can withstand even the most gruelling sessions.

The Vans Skateboarding x Uprise Skateshop Skate Half Cab ‘92 collection is exclusive to Uprise Skateshop’s brick-and-mortar store and the Uprise Skateshop webstore. It’ll be made available for purchase on April 8, with shoes priced at $85. Please visit The Drop List, a calendar of Vans’ most exclusive product drops, for more information and where to purchase.

Vans Skateboarding Introduces The Lizzie: The First Signature Skate Shoe From Lizzie Armanto

SP22_Skate_Lizzie_VN0A4BX1FS8_Marsh_Side

Vans, the original action sports brand and global leader in skateboarding for more than 50 years, is excited to unveil an all-new skate shoe in partnership with Vans pro skateboarder Lizzie Armanto.

As a trailblazer in skateboarding, Lizzie is an inspiration, breaking down the barriers of what’s possible. So, when Vans set out to create Lizzie’s first signature skateboarding shoe, we listened closely to her and what she needed to progress. The result is The Lizzie, Vans’ first signature skateboarding shoe designed by a woman in 20 years. The Lizzie provides something else entirely for a wider range of skateboarders whose needs are not being met.

“I really enjoyed the process of creating a shoe from the ground up,” Lizzie said. “I felt compelled to make a shoe that is simple, functional, feels good on your feet and has a bit of soul, and feel proud of what we were able to accomplish.”

To bring this vision to life, Lizzie worked closely with Vans’ Innovation and Product Development teams on a performance-fit last molded directly from 3D scans of her feet. Lizzie wanted a shoe that represented her completely—from a slimmer fit tailored to her foot shape, to a leaner outsole for a closer connection to her board and improved flexibility. The impact cushioning in typical skate shoes left Lizzie feeling like she was floating above her board, so Vans listened to create a new lower profile footbed.

The Lizzie features a new vulcanized construction with a lower profile sidewall foxing tape, an exposed radiused outsole edge, and flex grooves for a stable, broken-in feel. The universal fit features the perfect amount of EcoCush™ cushioning, increasing boardfeel for a wider range of skaters. A new 3D Embossed DURACAP™ toe and Sidestripe has even more durability in high-wear areas, while an all-new micro-waffle tread and Sick-Stick™ rubber offers maximum grip.

Because Lizzie is also passionate about preserving our planet, her signature shoe received the Vans VR3 Checkerboard Globe designation, meaning it follows strict footwear materials guidelines for all major components and has been designed and engineered to have a reduced carbon footprint compared to Vans’ canvas shoes. Under the VR3 designation, The Lizzie will always be made in part with organic cotton, natural rubber and biobased foam. For its debut, The Lizzie also utilizes suede across the entire shoe sourced from Leather Working Group (LWG) tanneries that have been rated gold or silver for environmental responsibility.

“I feel very connected to nature, and I’m stoked that my shoe could bring me even closer to it. I knew from the very beginning that I wanted to include sustainable materials and practices as much as possible throughout the entire process. It means a lot to me that Vans’ design team went the extra mile to make this happen,” Lizzie added.

The Lizzie is finished with minimal detailing, including Lizzie’s signature initials on the exterior tongue label as well as her first and last name on the underside of the heel flaps, visible only when flipped up. Bright pops of hand drawn citrus and botanical illustrations on the shoe’s interior lining speak to Lizzie’s love of plants.

SP22_Skate_LizzieArmanto_Collection

In addition to The Lizzie, the Vans x Lizzie Armanto collection features a head-to-toe assortment of apparel and accessories designed in collaboration with Lizzie that include workwear-inspired staples like the Lizzie Armanto vest and Armanto skate chinos in burro, a knit tank in black, and short sleeve mini tee in melon, as well as a bucket hat in natural, crew socks in white, and waistpack in burro. The offering features the same citrus and botanical graphics tying back to her signature shoe.

Lizzie Armanto embodies the true spirit of creative expression in all its forms. With a storied career that includes many firsts—like the first woman to grace TransWorld SKATEboarding’s magazine cover and one of the first women in years to appear on the cover of Thrasher, the first to complete Tony Hawk’s Loop, and a part of the talented crew to compete in Tokyo’s 2021 Olympic skateboarding debut—Lizzie is a pioneer and role model. Continuing to break new ground, Vans and Lizzie are proud to deliver something else entirely for a new generation of skateboarders.

To honor the launch of The Lizzie, Vans will host an experience like no other from March 10-12, 2022, at Los Angeles’ Goya Studios. Celebrate the launch of a shoe created and inspired by Lizzie Armanto’s vision for a new generation of skateboarders. Imagine a world where all are welcome, everything is considered, and there’s a little something for everybody. A place where you can bring your board to skate unique spots, enjoy music, drink boba tea and learn about what makes Lizzie’s new signature shoe so groundbreaking. Look, we can’t give it all away just yet, so you’ll have to feel it for yourself. But we can say this: it’s something else entirely.

RSVP HERE!

The Lizzie x Lizzie Armanto Collection will be available March 10, 2022 at Vans Skateboarding retailers and at Vans.com. To learn more, visit Vans.com/lizzie.

Vans Skate x Krooked x Ray Barbee x Natas – Collection (2.25.22)

monster-children-vans-5-of-6

info via Skatism & Monster Children

Vans is proud to partner with Krooked Skateboards to bring together two of the most creative legends and pioneers in skateboarding: Natas Kaupas and Ray Barbee. As the embodiment of creative expression through art, music, and culture, Ray and Natas bring to life a collaboration rooted in iconic creative expression and authenticity.

Known for their unexpected guest boards, Krooked teamed up with Vans to deliver on this tradition by bringing in Natas, who holds special meaning with both brands and who served as an inspiration to Ray during his formative years as a young skateboarder. A respected artist in the skate community and beyond, Natas tapped into iconic board graphics from the past—Ray’s Ragdoll and Natas’ Panther—updating them with signature Krooked eyes and bringing them to life across footwear, apparel, and a guest Krooked board.

Leading the Vans x Krooked collection, the Skate Half Cab ’92 VCU features Ray’s Ragdoll on the left and Natas’ Panther on the right, as well as the collection’s namesake debossed on the shoe’s sidewall. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Vans Half Cab, and the silhouette rightfully takes center stage in this collection, underscoring its undeniable cultural significance and the influence of fellow skateboarding legend Steve Caballero on Ray, Natas, and the entire skate community.

Additionally, the Skate SK8-Hi®, Skate Slip-On, and Skate Old Skool™ in black all feature additional variations of Natas’ character artwork as well as his custom Checkerboard print in different iterations across the uppers. The Skate Sk8-Hi® features Vans x Krooked in handwritten red lettering, as well as custom suede heel counters debossed with “By Natas” and “For Ray Barbee” on the left and right pair, respectively. Each shoe in the collection utilizes DURACAP™ reinforced materials to protect high-wear areas and PopCush™ energy-return footbeds for impact protection that snaps back and won’t pack.

The collection is rounded out with an Off The Wall short sleeve tee in aegean blue and black, a fleece in black with Checkerboard sleeve detailing, and a snapback in aegean blue, all featuring Natas’ Ragdoll and Panther sketches and the Vans x Krooked logo.

As a leader in skate hardgoods, Krooked was founded in 2002 by professional skateboarder Mark Gonzales, one of the most influential skaters in recent history. Fellow friend and skate legend Ray Barbee officially joined Krooked Skateboards in 2020. Recognized for his role in progressing street skateboarding, Ray has made a name for himself over his 30-plus year career as not just a skateboarder but also as a world-renowned musician and photographer. Natas Kaupas, considered one of the first pro street skaters in the world and the first pro to ever have a signature skateboard shoe, was influential to a whole generation of skaters that includes Ray Barbee and his timeless style. Natas’ art has appeared across many skate brands over the years, and as a Santa Monica, California, native, his creative spirit both on and off the board thoroughly embodies Vans’ DNA.

The Vans x Krooked by Natas Kaupas for Ray Barbee Collection will be available beginning February 25, 2022 at select Vans Skateboarding retailers.
