It appears that the cat is out of the bag on this one.  As part of this Friday’s NASA “Space Voyager” collection, Vans and Funko teamed up to create this absolutely amazing Funko Pop! of Steve Van Doren.  This has got to be one of the coolest things that I have got to get my hands on this year!  Steve is all dressed up on a space suit, throwing up a shaka, while in his checkerboard slip-ons.  There’s also another rendition, that I believe is rumored to be a Pac Sun exclusive, or somewhere else, but who knows.  All I know is I need a few of these, so please help a brotha’ out!  I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how they will be released, but most likely it will be a gift with purchase when buying the NASA collection.  So sick!

Edit:  The 2nd edition with the floral print will be released by Pac Sun exclusively at ComplexCon.  Great.  No chance getting that one at retail then, lol.  ComplexCon is for the culture, right?!

Vans Bar Shot

Here’s something for all of you (and us) craft brew enthusiasts out there!  Frederick, Maryland’s very own Flying Dog Brewery has come out with their Flying Dog Sk8-Hi, featuring custom artwork by the iconic artist Ralph Steadman, who you may recall from his illustrations in Hunter S. Thompson’s 1971 novel “Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas“.  That’s not the only thing that adds to the coolness of these Sk8-Hi’s!  Although this isn’t the first time we’ve seen an alcoholic beverage brand on the side of a pair of Vans (i.e. Coors Light, Coors Extra Gold, and Pabst, to name a few), this IS the first pair of Vans created by a craft brewery, so that’s something yeah?  Oh, did we mention that there’s only 50 pairs made?  Did we also mention that Flying Dog is going to be giving them away through their social media and you’ll also have a second chance by signing up on their website?  Who doesn’t love free Vans?!  Also, according to the pics, these appear to be a Vault OG release, by way of the “ORIGINALS” heeltab.  If they are in fact LX’s, then that’s just icing on the cake for us Vans snobs!

Over the past week, we’ve been seeing quite a bit of Vans employees posting up pics of an awesome Authentic that was gifted to them by Vans.  Designed by Steve Van Doren, the shoe features a natural white canvas, with a black all-over print of most of the iconic patterns that Vans used back in the day, when they were made here in Southern California.  These logos have been reintroduced many times within the Vault line, and then later on in the Van Doren line, which was a nice tribute to all of the vintage Vans designs, and was an awesome way to reintroduce the mainstream public to the history of Vans.  Some of our favorites can be seen throughout the shoe, like the palm leaf, vanosaur, pirate skull, and aloha parrot, to name a few.  Check out a few pics on our Instagram page, and ask your local Vans employee to show you their pair, as I’m sure they’ll be wearing them tomorrow!

We’ve all came across pics of these chairs online, at some time or another, but most may not know what they are, or how to get them.  Originally released in 2006, by Coarse Toys of Germany, which is now based in Hong Kong, this chair models the Sk8-Hi they used on their Pain edition of their popular Flake character.  Well, a seller from Germany has posted one up for sale, and from the pics, he may be sitting on a few of them.  Here’s the kicker…they’re listed at $2500 obo + $150 shipping.  You’ve got to be either a super die-hard Vans fanatic, or a fan with a little bit of extra money to spare.  I’d love to own one of these, but at least someone will have a chance to own it.  I just wanted to share the pics with you, and document one of the cool, rare Vans related items in the world.

Check out this awesome Authentic Cruiser Board designed by Vans and  Santa Cruz skateboards.  Cut from the profile of a Vans Authentic sneaker, with the respective top and bottom print on each side of the deck.  It’s such a simple design, but damn it’s so dope!  It’s even got a signature red heel tab on the back edge!  Word first got around about this board, on Instagram, and there was a lot of speculation as to whether it was going to be strictly for promotional use, or if it was going to be an actual item for sale, and I’m here to deliver the good news that this is definitely a production item, and in fact a few are showing up around local Vans stores here in SoCal!  They’re only available as a complete, and the price is a pretty penny, at $129.99 + tax, but take into consideration that this is a Santa Cruz board, with OJ III Hot Juice Orange 60mm 78a wheels, and KRUX 8″ trucks, and that it’s not just some cheap generic item.  I won’t tell you where I got mine at, but put in some work and you’ll find yours as well!  Good luck, and happy hunting!

As I was scouring Instagram for new photos to share with you all lately, I came across a photo of Steve Van Doren biting into a skateboard with a sick Vans Authentic waffle sole print on the bottom.  Promo items like this always get the Vans collector’s jealous.  Well, recently I came across a Vans employee’s IG feed, and saw that he was now in possession of this said board.  I believe it’s the same board, because he gave a shout out to Mr. Van Doren about it.  After reading a few comments, it looks like this will be a Holiday release.  Sit tight, and please don’t ask me when and where to get one, because I’m in the same boat as all of you!  If any new info arises, we’ll be sure to share it.  Just enjoy these pics for now.
