Vans OTW – The BlackOuts x VP Records “Kingston, Jamaica” (Limited Edition Album)

Words via FreshNGood:

“In 2011, Vans OTW and The Blackouts (Ako and Atiba Jefferson) set out to create a free reggae compilation featuring music from VP Record’s vast catalog of artists. VP Records houses the best in reggae and dance hall music and the twin DJ duo spent weeks carefully selecting each artist for this vinyl compilation. Once the tracks were chosen, the Advocates and Vans set out for Jamaica to finalize the project. In Kingston and Trench Town, The Blackouts were able to walk the steps of Bob Marley and Peter Tosh and photographed living reggae legends such as I Wayne, King Jammy and Ding Dong for the album artwork. Although The Blackouts time as OTW Advocates has come and gone, they’ll always be a part of the Vans family.”

Vans Store – 2011 Holiday Employees Only Tee!

Thanks to the homie @Chuck_Vans, because he also sent over a pic of the tee that has been given out to employees, which has an awesome ugly sweater themed graphic.  You gotta love that holiday humor!  Thanks Chuck!

Vans Old Skool Christmas Tree Ornament (Available now!)

Check out this awesome Vans Old Skool Christmas tree ornament, available right now at all Vans stores, as a free gift if you spend $50 or more, while supplies last!  OTWS member Chuck_Vans_995 gave me the heads up a few days ago, and I stopped by my local Vans store to check them out.  They’re made of foam, similar to a stress-reliever toy, and are about 3-4″ in length.  Very awesome, and I suggest you head out to your spot before they start to disappear.

Vans Collector Box (Erwin’s new pickups!)

It’s been awhile since I’ve seen one of these.  Vans created this special collector box, with miniature Vans classics models back in 2007, and I assume they were an appreciation gift promo, because they were limited to 500, each individually numbered.  One of our OTWS members, Erwin, came up on one, and sent me some pics to share with all the readers.  Not much info out there on these, or even from blog entries when they originally came out.  Enjoy the pics, and sell me yours, if you have one you are willing to part with!

Vans x KROQ – Era (Vintage 80s Promotional Giveaway)

One of the greatest things about Vans, is how they were known in their early years for their customizing, and small production runs, which allowed all sorts of people to come to Vans, and ask them to whip up a quick run of shoes for promotional use, or what have you.  In this case, it was legendary rock radio station 106.7 KROQ, here in the Los Angeles, and Orange County area that went to Vans, to create these awesome, unseen promo Vans.  My homie Jim, aka  5150Marley, sent me these pics of his friends late 1980s pair, made in the USA, Vans Era’s, which he had won from KROQ some 20+ years ago.  How dope is that?  Check out all the logos…on the sidewalls, and all over the canvas.  No doubt about it, these are a rare gem, and people will be asking questions!  Thanks Jim!
