Vault by Vans x ALYX (aye-leeks) – Footwear Collection (7.29.17)

This summer, Vault by Vans collaborates with premium fashion label, ALYX, to create a harmonious blend of high and low style with an 11-piece footwear collection. Designed by ALYX creative director Matthew Williams, the Vault by Vans x ALYX collection features deluxe versions of iconic Vans silhouettes that haven’t been released in over two decades. William’s inspiring California roots connect the ALYX brand with Vans’ skate heritage, taking his youth culture inspired designs and adding elements of luxury for this special collaboration.

“For this Vans release, we really focused on the history of Vans and referenced past silhouettes that have since been retired. It was an incredible experience to go through the past archives and reintroduce these styles with our own ALYX details,” Williams said.

ALYX is Williams’ first solo project after exploring a multitude of creative pursuits, including art direction, clothing design, video direction and photography. Although Williams takes pride in helping craft visual identities within the fashion and entertainment industries, ALYX is a passion project that serves as an extension of his own personal interests and influences. Williams lives in New York City but has deep history in Venice Beach and has since embraced strong ties to skate culture and the Southern California lifestyle.

This July, the Vault by Vans x ALYX collection highlights a distinct color palette that reflects Vans’ design heritage matched to the ALYX palette. The assortment introduces the OG Style 138 LX in black, white and red iterations, the Authentic (Convertible) 43 LX with a unique lacing system and collapsible heel, and the OG Style 29 LX featuring black, white and pink versions, all boasting a luxe metal detailing.

The Vault by Vans x ALYX collection retails from $120 to $195 USD and launches globally on July 29, 2017 at select Vault accounts. Learn more about this special project at

Vans Vault x Undefeated – OG Sk8-Hi LX (7.8.17)

It’s been a good 7 years since we’ve seen an UNDEFEATED Vans collaboration, but wait no more, as they’ve just announced their next project, due out this coming Saturday, July 8th.  This time around, they went with the OG Sk8-Hi LX, featuring their signature “UNDFTD” logo, oversized to cover up the entire side panels.  UNDEFEATED chose to go with 4 tonal colorways: Safety Orange, Desert Khaki, Dodger Blue, and Jet Black.  The waffle soles and heel tab are Safety Orange, and there’s custom 5-strike and Undefeated logos sewn on to the tongue label.  The pack finishes off nicely with custom military inspired olive green boxes.  The shoes will release this Sturday at a retail price of $80 each.

Vans Vault x Alyx – Collection 2 (7.22.17)

http _bae.hypebeast.com_files_2017_07_vans-vault-alyx-second-drop-og-sk8-hi-authentic-4

It appears that Vans Vault and Alyx are teaming up with a second collection, right off of the heels of their first collection.  This time, they chose a few new models, including an OG Sk8-Hi LX with a half-moon toe aka the Style 138, similar to the Gosha Rubchinskiy version, which will be available in all white, or all black with a white contrasting jazz stripe.  There’s also another blast from the past, by way of an Authentic LX convertible, allowing you to fold down the heel and step into them.  There’s also a Style 29 with the classic lug sole (not sure if they’re calling these a Style 29 or not).  This pack will be releasing at Stylebop, and we’re unsure about a wider release, but if you keep your ears to the street, I’m sure you’ll find what you’re looking for.  Until then, enjoy some pics via Hypebae!

Vans Vault x The General DQM – Old Skool Mesh LX (7.1.17)

http _hypebeast.com_image_2017_06_vans-vault-mesh-old-skool-lx-the-general-2

This summer, The General presents a brand new style, debuting a full nylon mesh upper for the classic Old Skool skate silhouette. Made exclusively for The General store in New York City, the new Mesh Old Skool LX is inspired by mid-century architectural forms and modern sports garment fabrications, traditional sports uniform palettes and mid-century graphics. The shoe has a modern, minimal feel in solid colors paired with true white outsoles. The pared back styling includes a flat, embroidered sidestripe, matching color sock liner and cotton webbing heel pull. The shoes come with a tracer cord lace, which combined with the nylon mesh material gives the shoes a light-weight and subtly technical feel reminiscent of classic summer sports.

The Mesh Old Skool LX is available in black, white, navy and burgundy in men’s and women’s sizes and will release this Saturday, 1st July exclusively at The General in New York.

Vans Vault x Stussy – Capsule Collection (6.24.17)

There are no two brands that epitomize Southern California street style more than Stüssy and Vans. It would make sense then that their relationship has been a long and fruitful one. Back when collaborations between companies were still a foreign concept to most, they unleashed their first joint creation, which is now highly coveted alongside all the other footwear they have since created. Where as in the past you might have seen more overt design motifs that signal Stussy or Vans, these shoes feel a bit more like a victory lap, a quiet celebration of the essential essence that makes each of these companies so special.

Each model is fabricated in premium leathers, 10 oz. Drill Canvas and Pig Skin, which combine to create a shoe that manages to look both tough and luxurious. The color palette is classic Stüssy, utilizing the dusty earth tones that have been a brand staple since they were first used in the iconic Beach Short way back in the 1980s. Leather waves of blue and rose intermingle with various shades of sand, creating shoes that look crafted by Mother Nature herself.

All of this is applied to Vans’ most beloved models, the OG Classic Slip-On LX, OG Old-Skool LX, and the OG Chukka LX in two varieties each. Each pair also boasts a classic checkered insole as well as a Stussy International branded stripe above the outer sole of each shoe. Truly this collaboration is a coup in the arena of classic design, it is impossible to think of any era in either the past or future where this group of footwear wouldn’t fit in beautifully with a range of personal styles.

The Stüssy Vans Collaboration will be available at all Stüssy Chapter Stores and on Friday, June 23rd.

Vans Vault x Engineered Garments – OG Classic Slip-On LX (Sold Out)

http _hypebeast.com_image_2017_06_engineered-garments-vans-classic-slip-on-2

Sorry for the late info on this one, but these have pretty much sold out as of today, when Nepenthes opened up phone orders.

Engineered Garments got together with Vans Vault again, to bring back their wildly popular mis-matched OG Classic Slip-On LXs.  This time, they went tonal.  Full tonal.  Totally tonal.  Moonrock, Olive Green, and Black tonal.  They’re minimal.  They’re simple.  They’re absolutely beautiful!  We hardly see EG Slips go up for resale, so if you’re on the hunt, then don’t think twice about clicking that “buy it now” button.

Southern California-based boutique, Blends, does a follow up to last-year’s collaborative OG Old Skool LX with Born Free and Vans Vault for the Orange County motorcycle show’s ninth annual meet. For this project the trio take to the OG Sk8-Hi LX model in a vibrantly rich Blue canvas and suede upper makeup. The shoe maintains the same key elements as its predecessor with a Red, White, and Blue Jazz-Stripe; a translucent checkerboard outsole as well as cobranding elements on the shoes’ tongue and footbed inserts.

The Born Free x Blends x Vans Vault OG Sk8-Hi LX will be available only at Born Free 9 this Saturday/Sunday. For those who can’t make it to the show, Blends will also have them available on their site Tuesday, June 27th at 9AM PST.

Vans Vault x Bodega – “Return of the Dragon” Caballero LX & Half Cab LX (6.3.17) @bdgastore #bodega

Vans and Bodega enter the dragon, so to speak, with a new collaborative release that combines the extraordinary feats of the dragon with the pay it forward spirit of the hóngbāo.  This is the first time that the Caballero signature model (aka the Full Cab) has been used in a collaboration with Vans Vault, and you can always expect Bodega to bring something original to the table.  The Vans Vault x Bodega Full Cab LX & Half-Cab LX, the signature shoes of the legendary Steve Caballero, are decked out in reptilian scales inspired by skateboarding’s very own flying dragon.  They also decided to include a few panels of pony hair to put the pack really over the top.  Chinese restaurant themed apparel, complete with take-out containers adds Bodega’s neighborhood spirit into the mix.  The hóngbāo included with every pair of shoes contain best wishes for everyone, but a few lucky recipients will get an extra windfall of good fortune.  All in all, the design for the pack is wild, and the earth-tones suit the overall aesthetic perfectly.  Great job Bodega, as usual!

The Bodega x Vans Vault ‘Return of the Dragon’ Pack releases on Saturday, June 3rd – available exclusively through Bodega at 11am EST both in-store and online. Retail is set at $155 for the Full Cab and $120 for the Half-Cab.
