“Italian creative firm Changedesign and its founder Renato Motagner re-engineer the classic Vans Chukka for a new partnership alongside the Italia Independent brand. Taking an innovative approach, Montagner brings influence from several different areas of sport, technology, fashion and design to the forefront. The result is the Independent Chukka, a nearly indestructible effort representing the designer’s elements of car and motorcycle technology. Featured materials include bulletproof ceramic Kevlar, double knot fabric (usually used in car manufacturing) and oiled leather. The shoes also sport clear outsoles with an Italian/American flag influence. A global preview is set for September 8, 2011 (7 p.m.-11:30 p.m.) at Banner in Milan, taking place during the third edition of Vogue Milan’s Fashion Night Out. ”
