Vans x Metallica – Band Series Collection (2013)

The Metallica news just keeps on coming!  Straight off the heels of the news of the Metallica Half Cab Pro “20th Anniversary” shoe, we can now share with you the 2013 band series from Vans, and you’ve guessed it, they’ve got Metallica on board for a straight up awesome collection.  What makes this release unique, is that Vans let each member of Metallica design their own shoe.

Check out each member’s shoe after the jump, and try to decide which pairs you will need.  You have until next year to decide!

Starting off, we have lead singer James Hetfield.  Inspired by his favorite black boots, James added a personal take on the skull and cross-bones, illustrated by Hetfield himself, to “Metallicize” his Vans Sk8-Hi Deconstruct.

Second, we have Kirk Hammett.  Tying back to a love of surfing and nature, Kirk chose a collapsible Slip-On made of hemp.  The inside heel is accented with a guitar pick inspired by his Ouija guitar and designed by one of Metallica’s favorite artists, Dirty Donny.

Next up, is Lars Ulrich.  Putting a twist on one of Vans’ Classics, Lars updated the Era Laceless with a print taken from the diamond plate pattern on his snare drum.  He finished his shoe off with a Dirty Donny Lars character on the inside heel.

Last, but not least, we have Robert Trujillo with the AV Sk8-Low.  Featuring artwork of an Aztec calendar on a blue background, designed by his wife Chloe, which is carved in one of his bass guitars.

Job well done.
