Vans Vault x OTH – “Deli Edition” Mid Skool ’77 LX (UTP Review!)

OTHMidSkoolLX18

It’s been a little while since we’ve seen a collab from Canada’s OFFTHEHOOK in Montreal, Quebec, but their latest offering has got them positioned right back at the front of the pack.  At first, we have to admit we weren’t too sure of what to expect from a shoe who’s inspiration came from a deli sandwich, but it’s all about the execution and final product, right?  OTH has a very high batting average when it comes to their Vault collabs, and this Mid Skool ’77 LX is another home run hit.  Who doesn’t love a burgundy premium leather shoe?  Well, add to that, a distresses leather that slightly resembles the smoked beef of said deli sandwich, and some contrasting yellow laces representing the mustard, and now you have a design that is instantly recognizable.  The extra “relish” mint green waxed laces, and “mayo” off white waxed laces that come in sauce cups are another nice touch, and I laced up one shoe in the white lace, so you could see what that looks like.  I prefer the yellow, otherwise the shoe would look similar to something that you may see in a standard Vault line, or DX line.  That same yellow color is spread across the bottom waffle soles as well.  Footbeds feature a pickle, which is fun, and the lining is a light brown premium leather as well.  The promotion on this release is super well thought out, and for the release party, each pair was delivered in a brown paper bag, each shoe being wrapped in red/white checkered paper, and a custom Vans order receipt was stapled to the bag, complete with some juice stains!  I received my pair in the same style, and I love it.  Thanks for going above and beyond and letting me experience that, from across North America!  We also received a special pair of 40s & Shorties pickle socks, which was another awesome touch!  I want to congratulate OTH on another great release, especially Graeme who contacted me a little while ago to let me know that something was releasing soon, that he personally had a hand in designing, before he left OTH.  Great job man!  I hope my review helps you decide if you need to cop these, because they’re surely worth it.  Thanks again to OTH for the early hook-up, and may these sell out just as fast as your other releases!
