Are these actually braided? Cuz it looks like it's just a texture stamped on the leather.

The embossing should go deeper than that, it looks too shallow

Agreed^ always one of my pet peeves.. With anything u emboss like that and don't go deep enough it looks super cheap.. Hey did braided leather ones before for vault.
